Now that we’ve signed the lease, what’s next?
Your check or money order for your first month’s rent will be due before you receive house keys and take occupation of your new home. Once you move in, you will fill out an Inventory Checklist.
What about utilities?
Our tenants are responsible for all utilities. Utilities must be set up in your name before you occupy your new home.
DTE Energy provides gas and electric in Michigan. You can contact them at (800) 477-4747 or http://mydteenergy.com.
- When you call DTE: press “1” for “Residential Service”.
- When the automated operator begins to speak state, “Customer Service”. Tell the operator you want the gas and electric turned on at your new address.
- Make sure to get your confirmation number.
Water
Water service is provided by the City of Ann Arbor. The City of Ann Arbor Water Utilities office phone number is (734) 994-2666.
Cable/Internet
All of our houses are cable ready. Cable TV & Internet services are provided by Comcast, 1-800-Comcast.
Garbage Pick-up
The City of Ann Arbor provides the garbage bin. To find the trash day for your neighborhood, check the City of Ann Arbor Weekly Curbside Collection Map.
Recycling information
Recycling pick up is provided to all houses in Ann Arbor by the City of Ann Arbor Public Services/Solid Waste on the same day as garbage pick-up. Visit http://www.a2gov.org/recycle or call (734) 994-2807. There will be recycling bins at your new home. If you need extra bins, call (734) 99-GREEN.
